Your first NFC update
Use an NFC-capable phone and an app version supplied or approved for your exact IMPixED device. Phone, operating-system, and app-release compatibility must be confirmed for that product; NFC hardware alone is not a guarantee.
This guide describes the documented update behavior. It does not provide an app-store download or promise that an app is available for every phone.
1. Check the product
Confirm the model, panel, and supplied power instructions. Do not attach a different panel or adapter based only on its size. Review the display-selection notes, especially the two different 2.9-inch panels and provisional 3.68-inch sizing.
2. Connect over NFC
Enable NFC where your phone requires it, open the approved app's NFC update flow, and hold the phone's NFC reading area against the device's NFC area. Keep that position stable once the app detects the device.
On hardware powered only by the NFC field, the app must enable energy harvesting before the device can start. It must enable it again after the field is removed and reapplied. This is part of the app's connection handling, not a reason to change device settings with a generic NFC-writing tool. Follow the exact product's power instructions; do not assume all IMPixED displays have the same supply arrangement.
3. Identify the connected display
Allow the app to read Metadata before it prepares an image. It must check the panel identity, pixel dimensions, palette, pixel format, and required image length. If identification fails or differs from the expected device, stop and use troubleshooting.
Do not bypass identification by manually choosing a similar size.
4. Prepare and preview
Create text and artwork on the canvas identified by Metadata. Check orientation, colors, and text placement in the preview. Text is part of the complete image; it is not sent as a separate text command.
See text and images for practical preparation.
5. Start the update and hold position
Keep the phone in place while the app prepares the display, sends the complete image, and waits for refresh completion.
The initial “receiving” response does not mean the panel is ready for image data. The app must wait for a separate ready event. During refresh there can be a period with no NFC response; do not start another update or move the phone because progress appears quiet.
6. Wait for confirmation
Finish only when the app reports OK + complete. An upload progress bar reaching the end is not proof that the screen has finished refreshing.
If the app reports a cleanup fault after completion, the visible refresh succeeded; do not repeat the refresh. If it reports re-upload required, follow the recovery flow for a complete new upload. See safe transfers and troubleshooting.
